Purchase of new currency notes increases ahead of Eid

As Eid approaches, the purchase of new clothes, shoes and new currency notes has increased

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) As Eid approaches, the purchase of new clothes, shoes and new currency notes has increased.

In view of Eid, activities are going on in the banks as well as in the open market. New notes are being obtained from banks on limited and different terms. Most people are forced to buy new currency notes from the open market on high rates.

According to State Bank sources, 600 to 700 rupees are being charged for a bundle of the new 10 rupee currency note, 700 to 800 rupees for the 20 rupees currency note and 1000 to 1200 rupees for a bundle of the new 50 rupee currency note, while bundles of 100 rupee notes are being obtained for an additional 800 to 1000 rupees.

Consumers say that new notes are a must-have for Eid, and old notes do not look good in the pocket with new clothes and shoes.
