RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Chairman of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Punjab, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan, on Monday, directed officials to complete the cleaning of Nullah Lai and other drains before the onset of the monsoon season.
Presiding over a meeting during his visit to the WASA Rawalpindi office to review monsoon preparedness, cleaning of storm drains, rainwater management and ongoing water supply and infrastructure projects, he appreciated the performance of WASA Rawalpindi and stressed the need for early completion of projects under the Punjab Development Programme to improve civic facilities for residents.
Managing Director WASA Rawalpindi Aziz Ullah Khan, briefed the meeting on the organisation’s affairs, ongoing development schemes, operational challenges, public complaints and proposed solutions. Participants were also informed about progress on water supply and sewerage projects being carried out under the Punjab Development Programme.
Lawmakers attending the meeting highlighted water supply, sewerage and drainage-related issues faced by residents in their Constituencies.
Officials also briefed the participants on planning related to the Chahan Dam-based water supply project and other water resources.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The meeting reviewed a proposal for the solarisation of tube wells aimed at improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the water supply system through alternative energy sources.
Aziz Ullah Khan assured participants that efforts would be made for the prompt resolution of public complaints.
Speaking to the media later, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan said the Punjab government was committed to public service and ensuring equal civic facilities across the province through the Punjab WASA system. He said the initiative aimed to improve the delivery of water supply, sewerage and drainage services through a more effective institutional framework.
He added that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was utilising all available resources to address public issues and provide basic facilities at the doorstep of citizens.
At the conclusion of the visit, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan planted a sapling at the WASA Rawalpindi head office as a commemorative gesture.
Director General Punjab WASA Tayyab Farid and Members of the Provincial Assembly Raja Hanif Advocate, Ziaullah Shah, Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Malik Mansoor Afsar, Imran Ilyas and Chaudhry Naeem Ijaz also attended the meeting.
