Punjab Transport Minister says Attock green electric bus service likely to start after Eid

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has said that the Punjab government is striving to provide modern, safe and convenient transport facilities to the public across the province.

The provincial minister appreciated the performance of the Regional Transport Authority Attock and expressed hope that the institution would maintain the same standard in the future. Later, he visited the General Bus Stand and Electric Vehicle Stand to review arrangements.

Talking to the media, Bilal Akbar Khan said preparations for launching the modern Green Electric Bus Service in Attock had entered the final phase under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, adding that buses were likely to start operating within eight to nine days after Eid.

He said the environmentally friendly buses, with a fare of Rs20, would be smoke-free and noise-free and equipped with modern facilities including mobile charging ports, a cashless card system, a separate compartment for women, security cameras and panic buttons.

The minister said the Punjab government was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against overcharging, overloading, roof-top travelling and illegal extra fare collection during Eid holidays, and strict action would be taken against violators.

He added that surveillance cameras had been installed at different locations while district administration and relevant teams would remain active during Eid and the post-Eid return period to ensure safe, comfortable and improved travel facilities for the public.
