Punjab traffic fines reduced, new rates implemented

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) The Punjab government has reduced traffic fines for motorcycle, car and commercial vehicle owners and implemented new rates, while the One App has also been updated to make the challan system more effective.

According to official sources, now commercial vehicles will also be issued regular challan tickets for traffic violations.

Under the new rules, a fine of Rs 1,000 has been fixed for motorcyclists for using mobile phones, violating lane lines, disrupting traffic flow and using pressure horns, while a fine of Rs 2,000 has been maintained for driving without a helmet, one-way violation and without a license.

Furthermore, a fine of Rs 2,000 will be imposed for car drivers for violating lane lines and Rs 3,000 for breaking traffic signals, while a fine of Rs 5,000 has been imposed for commercial vehicles for driving without a license and violating signals.

In addition, a fine of Rs 2,000 will be imposed on motorcycles and rickshaws emitting smoke, Rs 3,000 on cars and Rs 5,000 on commercial vehicles.

Lahore Traffic Police Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi says that the purpose of the challan is to improve the well-being of citizens and ensure safe travel, so citizens should obey traffic rules.
