LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) A meeting chaired by Provincial Energy Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar on Friday reviewed progress on waste-to-energy, biogas and solarisation projects across Punjab.
The meeting decided to expedite modern waste-to-energy and biogas initiatives on the model of Azerbaijan. Discussions also focused on the solarisation of government buildings, educational institutions and the industrial sector.
Participants reviewed various aspects of carbon capture and biogas projects in Gujjar Colony, Lahore, while proposals to establish biogas plants in cattle markets and cattle colonies across Punjab also came under consideration.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Speaking on the occasion, Malik Faisal Khokhar said the government was committed to transforming Punjab into a clean and smart energy hub, adding that provision of affordable electricity and an environmentally sustainable energy system remained its top priority.
The minister directed officials to formulate a comprehensive strategy for waste-to-energy, biogas and other modern energy projects.
The meeting was informed that Azerbaijan has expressed keen interest in collaborating on waste-to-energy, solarisation and biogas projects in Punjab.
