Punjab Police remain on high alert for security of churches

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Jun, 2026) Punjab Police remained on high alert and performed security duties during Christian worship and prayer services held at churches across Lahore and other districts of the province on Sunday.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem had directed all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs) and senior police officers to further tighten security arrangements for churches and ensure strict monitoring of important and sensitive places.

The IGP instructed supervisory officers to personally inspect security arrangements at churches. He also ordered the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches, while teams of the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force carried out effective patrolling around churches.

He directed all deployed officers and personnel to remain highly vigilant and keep a close watch on miscreant elements. Search and sweep operations around churches, Christian localities and other sensitive places also continued to ensure a peaceful environment.

Abdul Kareem also urged religious scholars, members of the Christian community and Peace Committee representatives to promote interfaith harmony and work together to maintain peace and religious harmony across the province.
