LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Tuesday said that vehicles of 747 police stations across the province had been equipped with crime scene protection kits to ensure timely preservation of evidence and improve investigation standards.
According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, the initiative had been launched under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz titled "Justice at Your Doorstep."
The spokesperson said special kits containing crime scene cones, cordon tape and evidence markers had been placed in the vehicles of police stations so that the scene of crime could be secured immediately after any incident and evidence protected from being lost.
IGP Abdul Kareem said crime scene protection was a fundamental component of investigation and timely preservation of the scene ensured that evidence remained intact, which ultimately helped improve the quality of investigations.
Additional Inspector General Investigation Punjab Shahzada Sultan said police officers were also being trained as first responders, adding that 500 master trainers had already been prepared for this purpose. He said that with the cooperation of coordinators from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, professional training of police personnel was continuing, while officers from the rank of constable to inspector would be trained in modern crime scene management.
He added that training of police officers in line with modern forensic science requirements was aimed at making the investigation process more effective, transparent and in accordance with modern standards.
