Punjab police arrest 26,267 drug peddlers this year

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2026) Punjab Police registered 25,243 cases and arrested 26,267 drug peddlers

from various parts of the province during the last six months.

According to the police spokesperson, 13,324 kilograms of hashish, 1,251

kilograms of heroin, 870 kilograms of ice, 557 kilograms of opium, and more

than 379,000 liters of alcohol were recovered from drug peddlers during the

same period.

This year, 3,746 drug peddlers have been arrested in the provincial capital

and 3,631 cases were registered.

while 1,345 kilograms of hashish, 88 kilograms

of heroin, 367 kilograms of ice, 37 kilograms of opium and 17,541 liters of alcohol

were seized.

IG Punjab Abdul Karim has ordered that all the accused involved in the supply

chain be brought to justice and given strict punishments, in addition to accelerating

action against those involved in drug trafficking in the vicinity of educational institutions

and hostels, he added.
