Punjab minister stresses coordinated strategy for sustainable peace

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has stressed the need for a coordinated strategy among all relevant institutions to establish sustainable peace in the province.

He said that in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, vigorous steps are being taken to ensure the protection of life and property of the people and to uphold the rule of law.

He expressed these views while presiding over the 20th meeting of the Provincial Intelligence Committee held at the Interior Department on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that a coordinated strategy between all relevant institutions is indispensable for maintaining sustainable peace in the province. He added that ensuring law and order is a basic requirement of any civilized society.

The minister said that the law and order situation in the province is improving due to the professional skills of law enforcement agencies, the use of modern technology, intelligence sharing and quick response mechanisms. He added that the Punjab government is taking indiscriminate action against miscreants who attempt to harm social harmony and peace, adding that no compromise will be made on the safety of the people of Punjab.

During the meeting, Secretary Home Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi gave a detailed briefing on the overall law and order situation in the province. The meeting also reviewed security arrangements for Youm Ali Karamullah Wajho and was briefed on the security of Chinese residents.

Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said that law enforcement agencies are working day and night to maintain peace and stability. He added that the dream of lasting peace can only be achieved through mutual cooperation between the government and the public. He also directed the administration and police across Punjab to ensure strict implementation of the security SOPs issued by the Home Department.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Abdul Karim attended the meeting through video link and briefed participants on security measures. Special Secretary Home, Additional IG Operations Punjab, Additional IG Special Branch, Additional Secretary Internal Security, Additional Secretary Special Initiatives and other senior officials of relevant departments also attended the meeting.
