Punjab govt taking steps to improve medical facilities in public hospitals: Minister Salman

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the government is taking effective steps to improve treatment facilities in government hospitals and provide modern medical services to patients in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting with the Friends of Mayo Hospital delegation at Mayo Hospital, here on Thursday.

During the meeting, various development projects underway at Mayo Hospital Lahore, improvement of medical facilities and the quality of services being provided to patients were discussed in detail.

The minister appreciated the efforts of Friends of Mayo Hospital Lahore and said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a project has been launched to rehabilitate Mayo Hospital. He said that Mayo Hospital is a historic and important teaching hospital of Punjab where thousands of patients come for treatment every day.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said that with the completion of the ongoing development projects at Mayo Hospital, patients will receive better facilities and the quality of treatment will also improve.

He added that the role of welfare organizations such as Friends of Mayo Hospital is commendable as they are working with the government for the improvement of the hospital and the convenience of patients. He assured that the Punjab government will continue to take all possible steps to provide quality and timely medical facilities to the people.

On the occasion, Secretary Health Department Azmat Mahmood said that the ongoing projects at Mayo Hospital Lahore will be completed on time and efforts are being made to ensure that patients do not face any problems during the rehabilitation work.

President Friends of Mayo Hospital Fatima Fazal said that the organization will continue to cooperate for the provision of the best possible treatment facilities to patients at Mayo Hospital Lahore.

CEO Mayo Hospital Professor Muhammad Shoaib Nabi, Professor Abrar Ashraf and other concerned officers were also present. The Friends of Mayo Hospital delegation included President Fatima Fazal, Vice President Ambreen Irfan, Director Laila Nusrat, Director Nayyar Ali Dada, Director Muhammad Syed, Usman Tarar and Fatima Malik.
