Punjab govt extends Section 144 restrictions on drone use

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) The Punjab government has extended, for another 30 days, the ban imposed under Section 144 on flying drones in open areas across the province in view of security concerns.

According to a spokesperson for Punjab Home Department, a complete ban on outdoor drone operations will remain in force, while limited use of small drones will be allowed inside halls and marquees during events, subject to strict safety compliance by organisers.

The notification issued by the Home Department Punjab clarified that intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the restriction. It further stated that the measure aims to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and protect property.

The ban will remain effective till May 25, and district administrations and police across Punjab have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the orders in letter and spirit.
