Punjab govt accelerates AI transformation

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to transform Punjab into a fully AI-enabled province by 2029, a major step forward was marked as the Office of AI, led by Advisor to the Chief Minister on AI and Special Initiatives Ali Dar, organised a networking event in collaboration with Pak Launch, here on Wednesday.

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, along with ministers and leading personalities from industry, technology, and business sectors, participated in the event.

Addressing the gathering, CM’s Advisor Ali Dar said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, improving public service delivery and governance through modern technology remains the government’s top priority. He said artificial intelligence is not a temporary trend but the future of the world, adding that Punjab’s vision is to become a fully AI-enabled province by 2029.

He shared that work is underway on the world’s first AI-enabled Delivery Unit, aimed at modernizing governance, improving service delivery, and enhancing public facilitation. He added that the government is focused on making AI more effective, accessible, and impactful for citizens as well as businesses.

The Advisor emphasized that equipping the youth with AI skills is a key priority so that Punjab’s younger generation can play a leading role in the global digital economy. He said strong public-private partnerships are essential for sustainable development, and the Office of AI will extend full support in this regard.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, visible improvements in governance and public service delivery are being witnessed on the ground. She said the use of artificial intelligence for innovation in governance is the need of the hour.

Congratulating Ali Dar on the establishment of the Office of AI, she said that earlier there was limited awareness regarding the AI ecosystem, but now Punjab has a clear direction and strong foundation in this field. She added that the future belongs to artificial intelligence and digital ecosystems, and with the establishment of the Office of AI, Punjab is set to secure a prominent position in South Asia. She said the province is rapidly moving towards digitization, with data-driven decision-making becoming central to governance.

Marriyum Aurangzeb further said that all development and public welfare initiatives of the Chief Minister are available on a monitoring dashboard, ensuring transparency, effective oversight, and improved service delivery. She said the Chief Minister’s governance model is based on public service, transparency, and results-oriented performance.

At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed their commitment to transforming Punjab into a model province in artificial intelligence and digital governance through collaboration between the government, private sector, and technology community.
