LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Mar, 2026) Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that railway travel in Pakistan has become increasingly comfortable and efficient, with Pakistan Railways adopting modern practices while maintaining international standards.
Speaking to journalists upon his arrival at Rawalpindi Railway Station on Saturday, he remarked that train travel is not only safe but also a practical alternative to road transport. He encouraged citizens to prefer rail over buses, noting that greater use of trains could help reduce traffic accidents and curb air pollution.
The governor traveled by train from Lahore to Islamabad. Upon arrival, he was warmly received by railway officials and staff. On the occasion, he highlighted the historical significance of Lahore Railway Station and appreciated ongoing improvements in railway services.
Addressing broader national issues, the governor alleged that Afghanistan, with India’s support, is involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan. He stated that Operation Ghazb lil-Haq is continuing successfully and stressed that the entire nation stands firmly with the Pakistan Army in its fight against terrorism.
He further noted that Pakistan has hosted Afghan refugees for decades and extended support in various sectors, including assistance in developing Afghanistan’s cricket team. He asserted that the Afghan government must decide whether to stand with Pakistan or with terrorist elements.
Concluding his remarks, the governor reaffirmed that Pakistan is a peace-loving country, but its desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness.
