Punjab government enforces revised business closing hours under austerity measures

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Punjab government has enforced revised closing timings for business and commercial establishments across the province under ongoing austerity measures, with immediate effect.

According to an official notification, all shops, markets, shopping malls, bazaars and departmental stores will close by 9:00pm throughout the week, including weekends.

The notification stated that grocery and general/kiryana stores, as well as marriage halls and marquees, will close by 10:00pm, while restaurants, cafes, cinemas and other food outlets have been allowed to operate till 11:00pm.

However, takeaway and home delivery services for food establishments have been exempted from the 11:00pm restriction.

The directive further clarified that essential services including pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories and medical stores are exempted from the new timings.

Similarly, bakeries, tandoors, milk and dairy shops, fuel and CNG stations, electric vehicle charging stations, gyms, sports facilities, IT companies and call centres have also been excluded from the restrictions.
