LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) The Punjab government has issued a notification to abolish stamp duty on property transfer as a result of mergers in the province.
This notification has been issued after the decision of the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court.
According to the notification, merger schemes approved by the court and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) will be exempted from stamp duty.
Likewise, property transfer in the case of merger under the Companies Act will be exempted and stamp duty will not be levied on the transfer of property as a result of merger.
On the other hand, SECP has welcomed the decision and said that this move will promote investment and business activities.
SECP has also thanked the court and the Punjab government for removing the obstacle in restructuring.
