Punjab CM says this scheme is for all those men and women who want to earn livelihood with respect

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb 26^th, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday inaugurated e-taxis scheme in the provincial capital.

“E-taxi is a respectable way of earning livelihood,” said CM Maryam Nawaz while addressing the ceremony. The CM also distributed the keys among the successful candidates to formally inaugurate the scheme.

“A woman who wants to support her family can easily become a bread winner. A single mother or a woman who is already earning money can also get benefit of this initiative,” said the CM.

The Punjab CM said that earlier Green Buses initiative was launched and became an example for the entire country, and now Dedicated Green E-Taxis for Men and women is another historic initiative.

She announced that the Punjab government would provide Green Buses/Electric Buses in 148 Tehsils across the province.

She also said that Gujranwala Metro Bus Service was being built

“E-Taxi can run 300 kilometers if it is charged once, and can help earn Rs300,000 per month, because there is nothing much needed for maintenance or oil changes,” said the CM.

The total price of E-Taxis ranges from Rs44,00,000 to Rs85,00,000.

The provincial government has set 30pc down payment for the green taxis.

“You can pay Rs690,000 as your down payment and can take this taxi with you to start your own business,” said the CM while announcing the scheme.

She said that for women, the provincial government has announced maximum relief and relaxation in the payment plan.

The Punjab CM unveiled that 1100 E-Taxis have been launched and would be visible soon on the roads in Lahore and other cities.
