Punjab budget reflects public welfare, development priorities: Akram Ansari

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Divisional President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Hajji Akram Ansari has termed the Punjab Budget 2026-27 a balanced and people-friendly financial plan, saying that it reflects the provincial government's commitment to public welfare, economic stability and sustained development despite limited resources and economic challenges.

In his reaction to the provincial budget, he said that the budget represented a significant step toward addressing the needs of ordinary citizens while prioritizing youth empowerment, healthcare, education, employment generation and infrastructure development.

Hajji Akram Ansari said that Punjab government under dynamic leadership of Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz had prepared the budget after carefully considering public needs and ground realities.

He said that while substantial resources had been allocated for development projects, the government had largely avoided imposing additional taxes on the public, which was a welcome measure in the prevailing economic conditions.

He said that the introduction of special packages for education, healthcare, technical training of youth, industry, agriculture and social protection demonstrated that public service and comprehensive provincial development remained the foremost priorities of Punjab government.

Describing the budget as more than a collection of figures, he said that it offered a roadmap for hope, prosperity and a better future while its benefits were expected to reach all segments of the society.

He highlighted youth-focused initiatives proposed in the budget and said that young people represented most valuable asset of the nation.

He appreciated plans for providing electric scooters, bicycle schemes and other facilities for students, stating that such initiatives would not only facilitate access to education but also promote environment-friendly transportation.

He further lauded the allocation of billions of rupees for skill development programs aimed at equipping young people with internationally recognized skills and enhancing their access to employment opportunities both within Pakistan and abroad.

Referring to the health sector, Hajji Akram Ansari said that the proposed allocation of 10% of total budget reflected the government's seriousness in improving healthcare services.

He also welcomed the proposed funding for sports complexes, public parks, road construction and rehabilitation projects in various cities, saying these initiatives would significantly improve civic amenities and urban infrastructure.

He said that development projects would not only strengthen infrastructure but also generate employment opportunities by stimulating construction, industrial and allied economic activities.

He said that social protection programs, assistance for vulnerable segments of society and public welfare initiatives had also been given considerable importance in the budget. These measures would provide relief to underprivileged communities and contribute to the promotion of social justice, he added.

Congratulating Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz and the provincial government's economic team, he said that they deserved appreciation for presenting a budget that maintained a balance between development priorities, public relief and fiscal discipline despite challenging economic circumstances.

He expressed confidence that transparent and timely implementation of the budgetary proposals would help Punjab achieve new milestones of progress, prosperity and economic stability while enabling the government to continue meeting public expectations in the years ahead.
