LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) The Punjab Agriculture Department has issued a comprehensive advisory for citrus growers, outlining essential orchard management practices for July to minimize crop losses during the monsoon season.
A spokesman for the department said here on Saturday that according to the advisory, the warm and humid conditions associated with the monsoon are likely to increase the incidence of insect pests and fungal diseases in citrus orchards. Growers have been urged to procure and apply appropriate fungicides and insecticides in consultation with local experts of the Punjab Agriculture department. The department has advised orchard owners to irrigate citrus trees at 15-day intervals.

The advisory also recommends spraying Bordeaux mixture or a copper-based fungicide after rains to protect orchards against fungal infections. Farmers have further been instructed to apply the third dose of nitrogen fertilizer during July. To effectively control fruit flies, the department has advised replacing the insecticide-treated cotton wicks in fruit fly traps every 15 days. The advisory is aimed at helping citrus growers maintain orchard health and improve fruit quality and yield during the monsoon season.
