ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has completed Quality of Service (QoS) surveys for fixed-line broadband services across 24 major cities in Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The surveys, conducted during the 2nd quarter of 2026, aimed to evaluate the network performance of Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) and ensure that users receive high-quality internet services.

The survey findings indicate that the majority of Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) comply with key Quality of Service (QoS) performance indicators, including (i) Network Availability (Local and Core), (ii) Jitter, (iii) Network Latency (Local Segment), (iv) Network Latency (International Segment), (v) Bandwidth Utilization, and (vi) Data Throughput. However, a number of BSPs exhibited performance deficiencies across certain network parameters. Elevated bandwidth utilization, particularly during peak hours, that may result in network congestion and reduced internet speeds, adversely affecting the subscriber experience.

Furthermore, increased latency was observed in both local and international network segments, indicating potential inefficiencies in routing and backbone infrastructure. Directions are being issued to the concerned operators to implement the necessary corrective measures to address these issues and enhance the overall Quality of Service (QoS) of their networks.
