PSX turns bearish, loses over 670 points

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the pakistan stock exchange (PSX) turned around to bearish trend on Friday, losing 670.20 points, a negative change of 0.40 percent, closing at 167,844.25 points against 168,514.45 points on the last trading day, according to psx data.

During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 480.818 million shares with a traded value of Rs 22.721 billion, compared to 729.400 million shares valuing Rs 34.992 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization decreased to Rs 18.616 trillion from Rs 18.661 trillion a day earlier.

Out of 486 active companies in the ready market, 160 advanced, 280 declined, and 46 remained unchanged.

Sitara Petroleum topped the volume chart with 80.101 million shares, followed by Pervez Ahmed Co with 34.

778 million shares and P.T.C.L. with 26.697 million shares.

The top gainers included Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited, which increased by Rs 122.17 to close at Rs 9,647.50, and Ismail Industries Limited, which gained Rs 48.79 to settle at Rs 1,968.08.

On the losing side, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs 173.62 to close at Rs 26,000.00, while PIA Holding Company LimitedB fell by Rs 153.00 to close at Rs 18,147.00.

In the futures market, turnover stood at 226.439 million shares with a traded value of Rs 10.160 billion, compared to 309.502 million shares worth Rs 14.410 billion in the previous session.

Out of 318 futures-market companies, 60 recorded gains while 253 declined and 5 remained unchanged, according to PSX data.
