PSCA deploys smart surveillance system for security of Baba Farid Urs in Pakpattan

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has finalized comprehensive security

arrangements through Smart Safe City Pakpattan for the 784th annual Urs

of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar (RA), ensuring the safety

of devotees, effective monitoring and a peaceful environment during the

religious gathering.

According to a PSCA spokesperson, more than 300 cameras installed under

the Smart Safe City Pakpattan project were being used to continuously monitor

the shrine, surrounding areas, major roads and key entry and exit points.

In addition, portable 4g cameras have been deployed for round-the-clock

surveillance of crowds, sensitive locations and other important installations.

A dedicated Safe City Control Room set up at the shrine was providing

real-time surveillance of all activities and ensuring effective coordination

among police and other law enforcement agencies.

The spokesperson said that Safe City drones were also being utilized for

aerial monitoring to keep a close watch on pilgrims’ movement and the overall

security situation.

Representatives of the Safe Cities Authority, police and other

relevant departments were jointly performing duties in the special control room

to ensure a swift response to any emergency situation.

To facilitate visitors, QR panic buttons, free Wi-Fi services and emergency

response facilities had been provided to enable immediate assistance. Continuous

monitoring of pilgrims’ arrival, stay and departure was also being carried out

through the Smart Safe City system.

The spokesperson added that modern cameras, facial recognition technology,

artificial intelligence-based surveillance systems and advanced digital tools were

being utilized to detect suspicious activities and monitor criminal elements,

ensuring law and order throughout the Urs celebrations.

Special awareness banners carrying guidance for pilgrims, traffic advisories and

security instructions had also been installed at various locations. Citizens and pilgrims

had been urged to immediately report any emergency or suspicious activity through

Punjab Emergency Helpline 15.
