LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has achieved the internationally recognised ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Artificial Intelligence Management System Certification, becoming Pakistan’s first public sector institution to secure the global certification in AI governance and management.

According to a spokesperson for Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the authority developed its complete Artificial Intelligence systems in-house instead of relying on external companies.

The spokesperson said 12 AI systems developed by the authority successfully met global AI lifecycle standards, while the organisation also received international recognition for the development, integration and implementation of AI systems.

He said the authority’s AI systems were integrated with a network of more than 24,000 cameras installed across the province.

International experts from SGS conducted detailed audits of the Safe City Headquarters, operational units and AI infrastructure.

The spokesperson said PSCA’s Smart Vision AI System, Facial Recognition, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Intelligent Traffic Management, Crime Analytics and AI-based Governance Monitoring systems had also gained international recognition.

He added that PSCA had become the only public sector institution in Pakistan possessing both ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 international certifications.

Following this achievement, Punjab Police joined a limited number of policing organisations worldwide that have attained international recognition in AI governance, the spokesperson added.
