Province-wide awareness campaign to be launched for national unity, harmony: Minister Azma

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that a large-scale public awareness campaign will be launched across the province to promote national unity and harmony.

The decision was taken in a key meeting of the Information Steering Committee held under the chairpersonship of the minister on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed important measures under the National Action Plan aimed at strengthening national cohesion and ensuring law and order across the province.

It was decided that, to instill a spirit of patriotism among the younger generation, themes of nationalism will be incorporated into academic curricula as well as morning assemblies in educational institutions. The committee also approved the inclusion of special content on “Marka-e-Haq” and patriotism in the syllabus.

The Provincial Minister directed that programs related to “Marka-e-Haq” and national unity should be implemented in private educational institutions with the same commitment as in public sector institutions. Participants also recommended that the DG ISPR continue visits to educational institutions for the intellectual and ideological guidance of students.

To strengthen the national narrative, the meeting decided that films highlighting “Marka-e-Haq” and national unity will be produced under the Film Fund. A special drama based on the life and sacrifices of Shaheed Liaquat will also be produced under the auspices of Alhamra Arts Council.

In view of the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram, the Provincial Minister directed authorities to intensify action against individuals spreading hate content. She announced that the Information Department and Home Department will jointly establish a special monitoring cell to strictly oversee social media activities.

Azma Bokhari said that no form of provocation or hate speech will be tolerated during Muharram. She added that elements involved in spreading misinformation on social media would be promptly identified and dealt with under strict legal action. The monitoring cell will also ensure timely dissemination of accurate information to prevent rumors.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani, Additional Secretary Home Maham Asif, Deputy Secretary Finance Shehzad Hotiana, Director Law Shahid Imtiaz and other relevant officials.
