Proclaimed offender arrested via Interpol after nine years

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2026) The police have arrested a proclaimed offender involved in a nine-year-old kidnapping cum murder case through Interpol, marking a significant breakthrough in a long-pending investigation.

Police spokesman said that the arrest was made by the Red Notices Branch, which traced and apprehended the fugitive accused Shakeel with the help of Interpol.

The operation was supervised by Inspector Asim Zulfiqar, who utilized technical resources to locate and secure the suspect.

He said that the accused had kidnapped and murdered a citizen, Tanveer Hussain, in the jurisdiction of City Samundri police station nine years ago before fleeing abroad to Bahrain to evade arrest.

Following his arrest, the accused has been handed over to City Samundri police, which has initiated legal proceedings against him, spokesman added.
