LONDON: Prince Harry is reportedly taking the lead in efforts to mend ties with Britain’s royal family, with Meghan Markle choosing to support her husband while remaining largely in the background, according to media reports.

Reports said King Charles III hosted Prince Harry, Meghan and their children at Highgrove House on July 10 in what was described as a significant family gathering.

However, the lead-up to the reported reunion was said to involve several last-minute changes that created uncertainty for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Royal commentator Russell Myers told People magazine that repeated “U-turns and backtracks” made the process frustrating for both the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace, adding that the situation had become increasingly difficult for King Charles and his advisers to manage.

A source close to the couple described the developments as “quite stressful,” saying what had been expected to be a major homecoming instead became a challenging experience that underscored the strained relationship between Prince Harry and the royal institution.

According to the report, Meghan Markle chose to let Prince Harry take the lead in family reconciliation efforts, quietly supporting him while stepping back from direct involvement in discussions with the royal family.

Note: Buckingham Palace and representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not publicly confirmed the reported meeting or the claims surrounding it.
