MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Following a stern notice by Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore over rising prices, the district administration has intensified its price control drive across Mirpur city and its sub-division to ensure the sale of edibles at officially fixed rates during the holy month of Ramadan. Official sources confirmed that field teams have been mobilized to curb profiteering and provide relief to consumers.
In this regard on Thursday, a heavy contingent led by City Tehsildar Imran Yousaf Chaudhry, flanked by police personnel, carried out surprise inspections in various localities. The raiding teams checked prices of vegetables, fruits, chicken, samosas and pakoras — particularly high-demand items during Ramadan — to ensure compliance with the government’s notified rate list.
During the operation, several shopkeepers were fined for overcharging customers and failing to prominently display official price lists, while warnings were issued to others. Tehsildar Imran Yousaf Chaudhry made it clear that shopkeepers must strictly adhere to the prescribed rates, adding that legal action would be initiated without delay against violators.
Meanwhile, in a parallel drive, Revenue Officer Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan also inspected markets and urged both sellers and buyers to follow the official rate list. The duty magistrate cautioned that artificial inflation, hoarding, or sale of substandard items would not be tolerated. He further appealed to the public to promptly report complaints to the administration so that grievances could be addressed without delay.
