Prime Minister exchanges Eid greetings with Uzbek President, discusses bilateral ties, regional tensions

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday and exchanged greetings on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the warm conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his heartfelt good wishes to President Mirziyoyev and the brotherly people of Uzbekistan. The Uzbek President warmly reciprocated the sentiments and extended his good wishes for the prime minister.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the highly successful outcome of President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Pakistan last month.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said that regular follow-up on the important decisions taken during their recent engagements would further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

They also discussed the ongoing tensions in Iran and the Gulf region and stressed the need for immediate de-escalation. Both leaders underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for the peaceful resolution of all disputes.
