Dera Ismail Khan, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) On the directives of the provincial government, Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Syed Muhammad Arslan carried out a surprise inspection at Imamia Gate and Jogian Wali Gali along with the District food Controller, Assistant Controller (Weights and Measures) and representatives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority.
During the operation, general stores, milk sellers, and chicken and meat shops were thoroughly inspected. Despite prior warnings, several violations were detected, including failure to prominently display official price lists, overcharging and profiteering beyond the notified rates, poor hygiene and sanitation conditions, and the use of faulty weighing scales and underweight measures.
As a result, action was taken against 21 shopkeepers and a collective fine of Rs100,000 was imposed. Of the total amount, Rs80,000 was fined by the Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan and Rs20,000 by the District Food Controller. One shop was sealed on the spot for serious violations.
The authorities issued strict warnings to all shopkeepers, stating that any further violations would lead to more stringent legal action.
Citizens have been urged to report any irregularities to the relevant authorities or monitoring desk to ensure timely action and effective enforcement of official price regulations.
