Price control crackdown in Abbottabad, 249 shops inspected, four sealed for violations

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) The district administration has intensified its price control operations across Abbottabad to ensure the availability of

quality essential items to citizens at officially notified rates during the wholy month of Ramazan.

The action was taken on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Salim Akram as part of ongoing efforts to

enforce the government’s price list and protect consumers from overcharging.

According to official details, Additional Assistant Commissioners conducted inspections in various markets and

commercial areas throughout the district. During the operation, a total of 249 shops and hotels were inspected

to check compliance with the official price list and quality standards.

As a result of the inspections, 11 shopkeepers were fined for violating price regulations, while four shops were sealed due to serious breaches of government directives.

Officials said the action was taken to ensure strict implementation of price control measures and to discourage profiteering.

The district administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights of consumers and ensuring fair pricing in line with the policies of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities warned that strict action would continue against violators without discrimination.

Citizens have also been urged to play their role by reporting complaints related to overpricing or violations of the official price list to the District Control Room through the official phone number or WhatsApp so that prompt action can be taken.
