Price control committee revises rates of essential items

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) The District Price Control Committee revised prices of essential commodities, food grains, vegetables and fruits here in the district, with the administration directing strict enforcement of the newly notified rates to provide relief to consumers.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa. Officials of the relevant departments briefed the meeting on the availability, supply and pricing trends of essential commodities across the district.

According to a spokesperson for the district administration, the committee reviewed prevailing market conditions, demand and supply patterns, and public convenience before fixing the new rates.

A notification of the revised prices was subsequently issued.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa directed all concerned departments to ensure strict implementation of the notified rates and take indiscriminate action against profiteers and hoarders.

He instructed price control magistrates to conduct daily inspections of markets and initiate immediate action against violators found charging prices above the officially fixed rates.

The DC said providing relief to the public in accordance with the directives of the Punjab government remained the district administration’s top priority and warned that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
