HARIPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) The district administration of Haripur on Sunday has intensified price control inspections across markets to ensure implementation of official rate lists and provide relief to citizens during Ramazan, with fines imposed on profiteers and violators.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Humaira Mahmood visited Main Bazaar and Darband Adda, inspecting samosa and pakora shops to ensure compliance with government-notified prices and quality standards. She reviewed the display of official rate lists and directed shopkeepers to place them prominently for public awareness.
She also checked weight, quality, and cleanliness arrangements, expressing displeasure over poor hygiene and substandard conditions at some outlets.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Ghazi Junaid Aftab conducted surprise visits to fruit and vegetable stalls, butcher shops, grocery stores, and bakeries in Ghazi and Khalo.
He examined the availability of rate lists, cleanliness, and compliance with prescribed prices.
Action was taken against several shopkeepers for overcharging and failing to display official rate lists, and on-the-spot fines were imposed. The Assistant Commissioner warned that profiteering and hoarding will not be tolerated, emphasizing that providing relief to citizens during Ramazan remains the administration’s top priority.
The district administration has urged traders to strictly follow official price lists or face legal action, adding that inspections will continue as part of ongoing efforts to control inflation and protect consumers.
