Pre-monsoon drive launched in Gujrat

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The district administration launched a wide-ranging pre-monsoon operation to improve the drainage system across the district to ensure smooth water flow during the upcoming rainy season and reduce the risk of urban flooding.

According to official sources, cleaning, de-silting and rehabilitation work of drainage crossings, flood channels and culverts has been initiated in various parts of the district.

The District Council Gujrat is carrying out cleaning and restoration of culverts in Mouza Mehsm, Banwatha, Banwatha Graveyard, Banth-01, Banth-02 and Shahpur.

Meanwhile, WASA Gujrat has started de-silting work at the Fateh Pur culvert.

The Highways Department has been assigned the task of cleaning and restoring culverts at Majra, near Fateh Pur Hotel, Fateh Pur petrol Pump, Fateh Pur Chowk and adjoining areas.

Officials said all concerned departments, including the District Council, WASA, Irrigation Department and Highways Department, are working in close coordination to ensure timely completion of monsoon preparedness measures across the district.
