PPC,AKF sign agreement for journalist's welfare

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) An agreement was signed between Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (AKF KP) and Peshawar Press Club (PPC) to promote the welfare of journalists and support them in health, education and professional development.

The memorandum of understanding was signed at the club by President AKF KP Khalid Waqas, President PPC M. Riaz, General Secretary Alamgir Khan and Media Manager AKF KP Noorul Wahid Jadoon.

Former PPC presidents, senior journalists and representatives of AKF KP also attended the ceremony.

Under the agreement, Alkhidmat will provide journalists and their families with healthcare services at Alkhidmat Hospital Nishtarabad, including free general OPD services, up to 50 percent discount on diagnostic tests, 10 percent discount on medicines, waiver of admission fees, and up to 30 percent discount on major surgeries.

The agreement also includes free treatment for registered thalassemia patients among journalists’ families, provision of hearing aids for children of members with hearing impairments, and wheelchairs for deserving journalists and their family members.

Alkhidmat will offer free technical training under its Bano Qabil program in e-commerce, video editing, digital marketing and graphic design for journalists and their children. Educational support up to intermediate level will be provided to children of deceased journalists, including those of media support staff. Fee concessions and free admissions in Alkhidmat schools will also be extended to members’ children.

The agreement said PPC will facilitate Alkhidmat’s press conferences and seminars free of charge and collaborate in organizing blood donation camps for thalassemia patients. During natural disasters, Alkhidmat will arrange safety training sessions for journalists and provide protective kits, accommodation and meals if required.
