Police seize rickshaw loaded with dead chicken

BUREWALA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) The Model Town Police in Burewala seized a rickshaw loaded with over 500 kilograms of dead chicken that were being transported for supply into the city, thwarting an attempt to sell unwholesome meat, police said on Wednesday.

According to details, Station House Officer Model Town, Mehtab Alam, during routine patrolling on Masoom Shah Road, intercepted a suspicious rickshaw and recovered more than 500 kilograms of dead poultry allegedly meant for distribution in local markets.

The police took the rickshaw driver, Muhammad Asif, into custody and informed the Punjab food Authority. PFA officials reached the spot, took possession of the seized poultry, and disposed of it on-site to prevent any public health risk.

A case has been registered against the accused on complaint of PFA official. Police said that timely action averted the supply of hazardous meat in the city and ensured the protection of public health.

Further investigations are underway.
