Police report crime drop in first two months of 2026

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) Serious crime in Multan district has declined significantly during the first two months of 2026, according to a comparative performance report released by the police here Wednesday.

Comparing the crime statistics from Jan1 to March 10, 2026, with the same period in 2025, the report indicated 57 per cent reduction in robbery, 66 per cent in highway robbery while car theft cases dropped by 100 percent. Motorcycle snatching declined by 73 percent, and motorcycle theft by 61 percent. Police said reductions were also recorded in several other crime categories, indicating an overall improvement in the law and order situation in the district.

Comparative statistics show that 13,230 cases were registered from Jan 1 to Mar 10, 2025. This figure, however, reduced to 6,724 cases during the same period in 2026, reflecting a decrease of 6,506 cases, an almost 50 per cent reduction.

During the period under review, more than 70 search operations were conducted in different areas of Multan, aimed at arresting proclaimed offenders, taking action against habitual criminals, dismantling organized gangs, and curbing street crime.

The report also noted a decline in murder cases with 18 reported in 2026 compared to 22 last year. Similarly, rape cases decreased by 56 percent, with four cases reported this year compared to nine last year.

The decline in crime is the result of effective policing, increased patrolling, and ongoing action against criminal elements. Authorities said monitoring and operational activities are being further strengthened to ensure the safety and protection of citizens.
