MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) Mirpur Divisional Police Chief Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan has placed the police across the Mirpur Division on high alert to ensure foolproof security arrangements, official sources said on Thursday. Consequently, law enforcement agencies have been directed to strengthen monitoring and checking at all entry and exit points in the districts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber.
According to officials, the DIG Police personally conducted surprise inspections of several entry points in Bhimber so that the effectiveness of security arrangements could be reviewed. Moreover, he carefully examined checking procedures at police posts and instructed officers to make them more effective and strict.
During the visit, he also inspected police stations in Jatlan, Ali Baig, Kadhala, Farrang and Barnala, where he warmly interacted with personnel and later broke his fast with officials of Barnala and Moyal police stations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chohan strongly commended the professional performance of the police force. However, he cautioned that the country was currently passing through a sensitive phase.
Therefore, he warned that hostile elements might attempt to infiltrate Azad Jammu and Kashmir in different forms to carry out subversive activities, adding that the responsibilities of the police have significantly increased under such circumstances.
The DIG Police further directed the SSPs of the three districts to maintain heightened vigilance at entry and exit points and to immediately increase patrolling in vulnerable areas. Meanwhile, he made it clear that no individual would be allowed to enter district limits without thorough checking and those involved in suspicious activities would be dealt with strictly under the law.
During the visit, the DIG Police was accompanied by Raja Muhammad Akmal Khan, Dr. Rashid Khan, DSP Headquarters Bhimber Sheikh Abdul Rehman, DSP City Bhimber Rashid Habib and other district officials. Additionally, taking notice of the dilapidated condition of the Barnala Police Station building, Dr. Chohan directed the district police authorities to take urgent steps for the construction of a new and modern facility, the sources added.
