RAJANPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) Police on Tuesday launched a large-scale operation in the riverine (Katcha) areas of Rajanpur to eliminate notorious criminal gangs operating in the region.
According to a spokesperson,District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Imran said law enforcement teams targeted hideouts of the Umrani,Sukkhani,Lund and Andhar gangs,as well as outlaws active in the Katcha Karachi belt.
He said drone-assisted strikes were carried out on several strongholds during the operation.
Amid mounting pressure,two members of most-wanted gangs surrendered to police along with proclaimed offender Ameen Lund,who carried a head bounty of Rs.6 million and Muhammad Ilyas Lund.
Police said the suspects were wanted in several cases,including kidnapping,murder and armed robbery.
Officials said the number of criminals who have surrendered during the operation has reached to 357.
All arrested suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law,they added.
Police also destroyed 41 hideouts and bunkers during the crackdown and warned remaining outlaws to surrender or face strict action.
The DPO said the operation has significantly improved the security situation in the area,adding that restoration of schools in the Katcha region reflects a return to normalcy.
He said that the success of the campaign was made possible through coordinated planning and full logistical support from the Government of Punjab,expressing confidence that lasting peace would soon be established in the district.
