LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2026) The Punjab Police have intensified its province-wide crackdown on violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act on the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem.
According to a spokesperson, 9,076 accused have been arrested and 8,755 cases registered across the province, including Lahore, during the ongoing campaign against kite flying this year. Police teams also recovered 457,765 kites and 13,944 spinning wheels during the operations.
The spokesperson said that in Lahore alone, 4,016 accused were arrested and 3,869 cases registered for violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act. Police recovered 112,334 kites and 4,243 string spinning wheels from the provincial capital.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed police officers to ensure strict and indiscriminate action against all elements involved in kite flying, terming it a dangerous activity that would not be tolerated anywhere in the province. He also ordered action against individuals involved in the online business of metallic strings and kites.
The IG Punjab appealed to parents to keep their children away from the hazardous activity and urged citizens to immediately report incidents of kite flying to the police helpline 15 to fulfill their responsibility as law-abiding citizens.
