HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) The Hyderabad police and the district administration carried out a crackdown against begging on the first day of the holy month of Ramazan, detaining 138 male and female beggars, including 32 minors.
The police spokesman informed here on Friday that the action started in the evening and concluded at night Hussainabad, GOR, Cantt, Bhitai Nagar and Qasimabad police stations.
The spokesman added that all the detained child beggars were handed over to the Women Police Station for verification and protection.
He said the action, initiated on the instructions of SSP Shahzaib Chachar and Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abedin Memon, was aimed at maintaining public order and discouraging the exploitation of vulnerable individuals, particularly children into forced into begging.
The police urged the citizens to report any organized begging activities to the nearest police station for timely action.
