Police capture injured robbery suspect after firing in Wah

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) The Wah Saddar Police apprehended an injured robbery suspect after an exchange of fire with their patrolling team late Thursday night, a Rawalpindi Police spokesman said on Friday.

According to the spokesman, two motorcycle-borne suspects opened fire on the policemen when the latter signaled them to stop during snap checking in the Wah Saddar area. The personnel retaliated and managed to capture one of them in an injured condition, while his accomplice escaped under the cover of darkness.

The arrested suspect was identified as Imran, who, the spokesman said, had been involved in several cases of robbery, theft and vehicle theft.

The police also recovered a motorcycle, which had been snatched from a citizen at gunpoint a day earlier, along with a weapon from the suspect.

During the exchange of fire, a bullet also struck Head Constable Adil; however, he remained unharmed because of a bulletproof jacket, the spokesman added.

On receiving information about the incident, senior police officers along with a heavy police contingent reached the spot and launched a search operation in the area to trace and arrest the fleeing suspect. The injured suspect was shifted to a hospital.

City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani commended Superintendent of Police (SP) Potohar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Taxila and the Wah Saddar Police for bravely confronting the armed suspects and recovering the snatched motorcycle and weapon.

“Those who attack the police and threaten the lives and property of citizens cannot escape the law,” the CPO said.
