Police book 22 suspected drug peddlers for assaulting cops

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2026) The police have booked 22 suspected drug peddlers in an FIR which also contains sections of the Anti Terrorism Act, lodged on the state's complaint at Pinyari police station on Saturday.

According to the complainant ASI Habibullah Langha, the police raided Noorani Basti after receiving information about the presence of 20 to 25 drug peddlers at that location.

However, he stated, when the police reached the place they witnessed men armed with automatic rifles guarding the narrow streets.

He alleged that the suspects opened fire on the police as they escaped from the rabbit warrens.

The ASI claimed that they collected 7 spent shells of Kalashnikovs and 36 of 30-bore and 9mm pistols from the location, stating that the gunshots were fired with the aim of martyring policemen who all remained unscathed.

The ASI nominated Adnan Qaimkhani, Munawar Arain, Bilal Arain, Raju Arain, Shahbaz Arain, Jahangir and others in the FIR which contained sections 353, 324, 147, 148, 149 and 100 of Pakistan Penal Code besides section 6/7 of ATA.

The complainant said all of the nominated suspects were notoriously known for their drug selling activities in the area.
