Police arrest two, recover weapons

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Police arrested two suspects and recovered illegal weapons during a search and strike operation conducted in the limits of Paharpur police station here on Wednesday.

According to a police spokesman, the operation was carried out on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmad under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Paharpur Division Iqbal Khan Baloch and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Paharpur Parvez Shah along with heavy police deployment.

During the operation, police teams searched various localities and suspicious houses to maintain law and order, monitor the movement of criminal elements, and ensure foolproof security for polio vaccination teams.

Police said two accused were arrested during the operation. The first suspect, identified as Asad, son of Muhammad Imran, resident of Paharpur, was allegedly found in possession of a 30-bore pistol and five cartridges.

The second accused, Merajuddin, son of Naseeruddin, resident of Khichi Pir Ashab, was allegedly carrying an SMG along with 30 cartridges, a 30-bore pistol with five cartridges, and a dagger.

Police seized the weapons and registered separate cases against the accused. Further investigation was underway.

The DPO appreciated the performance of the police teams and directed officers to continue such search and strike operations to ensure protection of life and property and maintain lasting peace in the district.
