Police arrest suspects in crackdown against illegal gold mining

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) The police launched a major crackdown on illegal gold mining, arresting multiple suspects and seizing heavy machinery during a raid, the police sources said on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi as part of an intensified campaign against unlawful mining activities across the district.

According to the sources, a team from Shakardara Police Station led by Station House Officer (SHO) Abid Waseem conducted the raid and apprehended several individuals allegedly involved in unauthorized gold mining.

During the operation, the police team confiscated heavy equipment, including excavators and mining plants, as well as vehicles carrying diesel and petrol.

Additional vehicles and machinery believed to be used in the illegal mining operations were also taken into custody, the sources added.

The police said the suspects were found actively engaged in illegal gold extraction.

The cases have been registered against the accused and further investigations were underway, they added.
