Police arrest suspect, recover hashish after encounter

HAFIZABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) The police arrested a suspected drug peddler in injured condition and recovered a large quantity of hashish following an encounter near Pul Sim Nala Sawan Pura area in the jurisdiction of Vanike Tarar Police Station on Tuesday.

According to police, a Vanike Tarar police patrol signaled three suspicious motorcyclists to stop during routine patrolling. However, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police instead of complying with the signal.

After the exchange of fire, the police arrested a suspect injured at the spot.

The suspect was identified as Zafar alias Sain and was taken into custody.

The police recovered hashish 2,200 grams from his possession.

The injured suspect was shifted to the Trauma Center in Hafizabad for medical treatment.

The police said two accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness, and a search operation had been launched in the area to apprehend them.

Further legal proceedings against the suspects are underway, they added.
