PO killed in encounter, three accomplices escape

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) A proclaimed offender (PO) was killed while his three accomplices managed to escape from the scene after police encounter in the area of Saddar Jaranwala police station.

Police spokesman said here on Wednesday that a police patrol received information that four armed robbers were on their looting spree after erecting a roadside blockade near Chak No.115 Stop on Khannuana Road.

Acting on the tip-off, a police team rushed to the spot and directed the outlaws for surrender but the criminals opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.

The police also returned fire in self-defense and during this encounter, one of the criminals received bullet injures due to the firing of his own accomplices.

The police apprehended the injured accused while his three accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of firing.

The injured suspect was shifted to hospital but in vain as he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The deceased was identified as Khadim Sial resident of Chak No.64-GB Haripur Jaranwala and was leading an inter-district dacoit gang. He was also a proclaimed offender and wanted to the police in 46 criminal cases including robbery, dacoity, theft and highway robbery, etc.

The police shifted the body to mortuary for postmortem while a search operation was launched to trace and arrest the escapees, he added.
