PMYP appoints Ibtisam Babar to lead fintech drive under digital Pakistan vision

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) In a major move to accelerate Pakistan’s transition towards a digital and cashless economy, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan appointed young fintech advocate Ibtisam Babar as Focal Person for the PMYP Fintech Division under the Prime Minister’s Digital and Cashless Pakistan Initiative, with the mandate to spearhead youth financial inclusion, digital payment adoption, and fintech driven reforms across the country.

The official appointment letter was handed over during a special meeting in Islamabad focused on empowering youth through technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and financial accessibility.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to build a technology-enabled economy driven by young innovators and digitally empowered communities.

Under his new role, Ibtisam Babar will lead efforts aimed at promoting digital payment systems, supporting fintech policy reforms, and transforming universities and higher education institutions into digitally integrated and cashless ecosystems nationwide.

He will also coordinate with academia, fintech industries, innovation platforms and youth communities to enhance digital accessibility and economic empowerment for young people.

Recognised as one of Pakistan’s emerging young leaders in entrepreneurship and innovation, Ibtisam Babar has been actively involved in strengthening startup ecosystems, building innovation led communities and connecting students, universities and policymakers through youth focused initiatives.

His work has largely focused on digital transformation, leadership development and financial inclusion.

Over the years, Mr Babar has received several national recognitions, including Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Future Leader of the Year, inclusion among the 100 Young Leaders of Pakistan, and Connected Pakistan 30 Under 30.

He has also represented Pakistan at various national and international forums on innovation, entrepreneurship and technology driven development.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said Pakistan’s youth are the driving force behind the country’s digital future, adding that Ibtisam Babar represented a new generation of visionary leaders capable of using technology and innovation for community impact and national development.

He said the appointment reflected the PMYP’s commitment to empowering young talent under the Prime Minister’s vision of a Digital and Cashless Pakistan, expressing confidence that the new leadership would help accelerate financial inclusion, digital adoption and youth engagement at the national level.

Speaking after his appointment, Ibtisam Babar said the responsibility is not merely a position but a mission to empower Pakistan’s youth through fintech, innovation and digital accessibility.

“Our vision is to build a financially inclusive, digitally connected and cashless Pakistan where every young individual has access to opportunities, technology and economic empowerment,” he said, adding that he looked forward to working with institutions, innovators and communities across the country to turn the vision into reality.
