PMLN works for development of Pakistan, AJK: Engr Amir Muqam

BHIMBER, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engr Amir Muqam, on Wednesday, said that the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League (N) was taking practical steps for the development, stability, and public welfare of the country and Azad Kashmir, adding that a PML-N government will soon be established in Azad Kashmir as well.

A grand joining ceremony was organized in Bhimber by Pakistan Muslim League (N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where former Azad Kashmir President Raja Muhammad Zulqarnain Khan’s sons, Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain and Qaiser Zulqarnain, formally joined PML-N along with thousands of their supporters, friends, and family members.

Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam as chief guest welcomed Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain and his associates into the party, saying that their inclusion reflected the public’s trust in PML-N. 

He said that the vision of party leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was evident to all and is steering the country toward progress.

The federal minister said he had visited Bhimber to review the progress of the Danish school project, which will soon be completed and is a gift from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the people of the region. 

He announced that a total of five Danish Schools would be established in Azad Kashmir, while the Muzaffarabad, Mansehra, and Mirpur Expressway projects are also under consideration.

"Pakistan and Kashmir are inseparable," he said, lauding the courage and spirit shown by the Kashmiri people during Marka e  Haq.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan sucessfully thwarted enemy ambitions and projected a positive image across the world.

Engineer Amir Muqam added that wherever PML-N has come to power, development projects have been completed, and similar development work, modeled after Punjab, will soon begin in Azad Kashmir.

He also described the development initiatives undertaken in Punjab under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as exemplary.

On this occasion, PML-N Azad Kashmir President Shah Ghulam Qadir congratulated Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain and his thousands of supporters on joining the party. He described Raja Zulqarnain Khan as a dignified and compassionate personality and demanded that the schedule for Azad Kashmir elections be announced immediately.

PML-N Azad Kashmir General Secretary Chaudhry Tariq Farooq said that, in line with the vision of PMLN leader Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the federal government has already launched several development projects in Azad Kashmir. He termed the joining of Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain and his associates a positive omen for the party.

Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan also congratulated Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain on joining PML-N and said his arrival would further strengthen the party.

In his speech, Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain thanked the central leadership of PML-N and said that it was the wish of his father, former Azad Kashmir President Raja Zulqarnain Khan, that he join the party. He said that today marks the beginning of a new journey and expressed full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Former Member of the National Assembly and President of PML-N Gujranwala Division, Chaudhry Abid Raza, also addressed the ceremony and expressed confidence that PML-N would achieve victory across the entire Mirpur Division in the upcoming elections.

The ceremony was attended by the leadership of PML-N Azad Kashmir, party office-bearers, workers, and a large number of people. Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam received a warm welcome, and at the conclusion of the event, he presented Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain with a PML-N cap and muffler.
