ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 18th, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in a mediatory capacity, according to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The statement said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the agreement as a neutral facilitator, while the document already bears the signatures of US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

It added that the Islamabad MoU represents a diplomatic framework involving both Washington and Tehran, with Pakistan playing a role as a mediator in the process.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump signed the memorandum during a dinner event in France alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, according to previously released footage from the summit.

Separately, Iranian state media also published images showing President Masoud Pezeshkian signing the same agreement, confirming Iran’s participation in the deal.

The officials said the agreement is part of broader diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and establishing a framework for further negotiations between the United States and Iran.
