PM Shehbaz recommends Sitara-e-Shujaat for Kohat Hero who sacrificed life to save civilians

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday paid glowing tribute to martyr Liaqat Ali, whose act of bravery near Kohat saved local residents from a major disaster, and said the entire nation stood united against terrorism.

On the recommendation of the prime minister, the president of Pakistan conferred the Sitara-e-Shujaat upon the late Liaqat Ali in recognition of his courage and sacrifice. The award was received by the martyr’s mother during a ceremony, a Prime Minister's Office news release said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Shaheed Liaqat Ali had set an example of courage and bravery that would be remembered for generations.

He said the security forces and the people of Pakistan had rendered thousands of sacrifices in the war against terrorism, adding that the nation could never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs.

The prime minister said every citizen of the country stood like a “solid wall” to protect the homeland from the nefarious designs of terrorists.

He further remarked that cowardly terrorists targeting innocent and unarmed civilians could never weaken the high morale of the Pakistani nation.

The prime minister, on behalf of himself and the entire nation, paid rich tribute to Shaheed Liaqat Ali and expressed solidarity with his family.
