PM Laptops Scheme held in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University distributed 194 laptops among students

LARKANA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, distributed laptops to 194 students from its constituent colleges and institutes, under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme in a dignified ceremony held at the Arija Campus on Tuesday.

The distribution included 77 students from Chandka Medical College, 32 from Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College, 16 from Bibi Aseefa Dental College, 20 from Benazir College of Nursing, 25 from the Institute of Pharmacy, 19 from the Institute of Physiotherapy, and 5 from Postgraduate Studies.

The Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nusrat Shah congratulated the successful candidates and emphasised the importance of digital technology for meaningful research, online learning, and access to global academic resources.

She encouraged students to use the laptops wisely for academic and research purposes and expressed her gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the Higher Education Commission for their visionary initiative to promote higher education through digital empowerment.

She highlighted that a laptop serves as a gateway to knowledge in today’s digital era, enabling access to online research databases, medical journals, and e-learning platforms.

The Laptop Distribution Program was coordinated by the Information Technology department of SMBBMU. Scholarship cheques were also distributed among deserving students at the conclusion of the ceremony.

A large number of faculty members, administrative officers, and students attended the event, reflecting the University’s collective commitment to academic advancement and digital inclusion.
